"Researching for a cure, scholarship"..
Enough cannot be said about the diversity of the Congressional newcomer. Here we see her skill as a budding scientist experimenting with the C. elegans;
"Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a 16-year-old junior at Yorktown High
School, also made it to the final round. She studied the effects of an-tioxidants on the life span of C. el-egans, a roundworm species, and said she was elated with the out-come. Her research found the antioxi-dant dimethyl sulfoxide extended C. elegans lifespan from the aver-age 12 to 17 days to 51 days. 'That's really significant,' she said. 'It was really rare to have an extension that huge. It extended life span more than 300 percent' " (Catherine L Foley, Journal News)
